Advocacy Center Receives IMPACT Grant from Greater New Orleans Foundation

ImpactAward AC is one of 38 non-profits to receive IMPACT 2012 funds from the Greater New Orleans Foundation. The Foundation awarded AC $20,000 for our work to ensure that people with disabilities have access to the healthcare they need through Louisiana’s two new Medicaid managed care programs: Bayou Health and Magellan.

Ask LA's Senators to Support the U.N. Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities!

The bill that will have the U.S. adopt the U.N. Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities will go before the Committee on Foreign Relations tomorrow. We need lots of calls to our LA Senators TODAY to ask them to support this convention!

AC Investigation Reveals Serious Neglect at Group Homes Across the State

Final Approval Granted on Settlement in Suit over Personal Care Services

Final approval has been granted for the Department of Health and Hospitals' (DHH) settlement in a class action brought by Medicaid beneficiaries of the Long-Term Personal Care Services (LT-PCS) Program, expanding access to the Community Choice Waiver Program to more class members. The plaintiffs in this case were represented by the Advocacy Center, co-counsel Steven F. Gold, and AARP Foundation Litigation.
