Priorities

The Advocacy Center priorities are Educational Rights, Self Determination (The Right to Make Choices), Community Integration (The Right to Choose Living Arrangement), Rights in Institutions, Access to Programs, Buildings and Services, Employment Rights and Entitlements (Rights to Government Benefits such as Medicaid). *The kinds of things we help with: * Please tell us about the kinds of problems you believe we should address. You may include the previously mentioned priorities and others you think are important. (Remember that the Advocacy Center work involves the legal rights of people with disabilities or senior citizens).

The kinds of systems problems we work on . . . The Advocacy Center addresses problems with service systems that affect people with disabilities and/or elderly persons. Please tell us about systemic problems you believe we should work on.

The kinds of things we teach about . . . Advocacy Center staff conduct training sessions and other kinds of public presentations, on topics such as these: rights of people with disabilities, rights of facility residents (group homes, nursing homes, etc.) rights of vocational rehabilitation clients, self advocacy, disability awareness/ sensitivity, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Medicare and Medicaid. Please tell us about training topics you think are important.
