The November 8, 2016 election promises to be an exciting one for Louisiana voters. In addition to the Presidential race, voters will choose among 24 candidates to replace Senator David Vitter, and select their representative from numerous candidates for the US House. The Advocacy Center of Louisiana is excited to announce the launch of its 2016 Empowerment Academy!
Seven adults, representing a wide range of ages and disabilities, attended the opening session of the Academy on July 9, 2016, where they learned about the history of disability rights in the United States, and in Louisiana. The following week, they attended a session entitled, "Finding Your Voice," which prepared them for a summer of learning self-advocacy skills.Read more
